Niederwangen, December 4, 2009, 7.30 a.m. – The Board of Directors of the Adval Tech Group sees no alternative but to close down the AWM manufacturing facility in Merenschwand in the course of 2010. A program of assistance is being drawn up for the 50 employees affected by the closure of this plant.

Switzerland has proved to be a very difficult manufacturing location for suppliers of plastics components to the automotive industry in recent years. Following the loss of a major long-term contract, the Group Executive Management and the Board of Directors of the Adval Tech Group have concluded on the basis of detailed analyses that the AWM plant in Merenschwand is unsuitable as a strategic manufacturing location for the automotive industry. Adval Tech will transfer the Merenschwand plant’s remaining orders for the automotive industry to QSCH in Szekszárd (Hungary), and other orders will be fulfilled by the AWM production plant in Muri (Switzerland).
