Actelion (SIX: ATLN) today announced that, regarding the Asahi Kasei Pharma Corp. v. Actelion Ltd. et al. (case number CIV 478533, Superior Court of the State of California, County of San Mateo), the court has granted Actelion's motion for a new trial on compensatory damages unless Asahi consents, by 10 November 2011, to a reduction of the jury award by a further USD 99.2 million, thus respecting - in part - a request that Asahi make an election between damages for alleged lost profits or alleged development costs. Novartis has announced positive results from three Phase II trials showing that AIN457 (secukinumab) produced a quick and significant improvement of symptoms in patients with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis. The results were presented at the annual European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) Congress, in Lisbon, Portugal. Link: Click Here

Zurich Airport: Economic Regulation of Airport Charges - Consultation Process initiated by Federal Office of Civil Aviation. The Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) has initiated the consultation process for the revised Economic Regulation of Airport Charges in Switzerland. Based on the Swiss Aeronautical Law (Luftfahrtgesetz) Article 39, FOCA worked out an ordinance for the handling of charges for Swiss airports, including Zurich Airport. Link: Click Here

EU Summit: And they still do not agree on what should be done...
In contrast to broad-based expectations from politicians, analysts and market participants alike, Sunday's long-awaited EU Summit on how better to address the euro area's fiscal and financial crisis did not even yield a partial breakthrough. Instead, European leaders announced another summit to be held on Wednesday 26 October with a view to concluding the respective discussions by then. The delay seems to be driven mostly by the request from German Chancellor A Merkel to be allowed sufficient time to address and consult the German Bundestag before major decisions are made on 26 October.
