Increased strength in building construction business - Implenia Group with strong performance - Implenia Infrastructure Construction reinforces customer focus and risk management, setting the course for sustained improvement in earnings for building construction | Thanks to good business in recent months, consolidated profit in 2011 is expected to exceed last year’s result Dietlikon, 19 December 2011 – Implenia, Switzerland's largest construction and construction services company, has responded to the challenges faced by its Infrastructure Construction Division. The company is strengthening client acquisition and customer service in building construction, taking measures to ensure effective, centralized costings, and creating the conditions for flexible, optimized use of personnel and technical resources. One of the main changes is the creation of the new “Hochbau Deutschschweiz” (Building Construction Germany-Speaking Switzerland) Business Area within the Infrastructure Construction Division with effect from 1 January 2012. Implenia is laying the foundations to establish itself as the top company in building construction, and take a leading position in terms of both its closeness to customers and the market. In addition, risk minimization, project execution and calculation throughout the business area will now be supported and monitored by a new central technical office. This package of measures is designed to facilitate sustainable profitable development for the Implenia Group’s building construction activities.
Improved operational performance raises expectation of better consolidated results than previous year
Thanks to a much better performance in construction production (Tunnelling and Infrastructure Construction) and continued very good business in General Contracting and Real Estate Project Development, the Group expects to post better results for 2011 than for the previous year. Implenia initiated some significant, seminal investments in project development in the second half of the year – including “Wrighthouse” in Opfikon (www.wrighthouse.ch), “The Metropolitans” in Zurich (www.themetropolitans.ch) or “Unterfeld” in Zug/Baar (www.implenia.com/en/unterfeld).
