| Asta AG Arbon plans sale of its domestic transportation and logistics operations |

A r b o n, 5 January 2012 - Asta AG Arbon, a subsidiary of AFG Arbonia-Forster-Holding AG, intends to sell off its domestic transportation and logistics operations to Camion-Transport AG Wil CT. Asta AG Arbon wound up its EU-oriented vehicle fleet on 1 September 2011. Now, in view of continuing consolidation in the Swiss transportation and logistics sectors and the difficult economic situation, Asta AG Arbon also plans to sell off its domestic transportation and logistics operations to the Swiss transportation company Camion-Transport AG Wil CT. The sale is subject to agreement by the workforce who have statutory participation rights. The reasons for the planned sale are twofold: firstly, the difficulty of maintaining a sustainable and self-supporting operation; and secondly, the inability to meet the constantly increasing demands of internal and external customers for cost-optimised transport together with top levels of quality and flexibility. Against this background the takeover of the vehicles and expertise of Asta AG Arbon by Camion-Transport AG Wil CT – one of the leading family-run Swiss transportation businesses – and the associated transfer of personnel would offer a number of benefits. The workforce would receive the offer of a future-oriented solution in a recognised specialist logistics company. AFG could purchase logistics services from its future logistics partner at a familiar high level of quality and at competitive prices and could also focus more strongly on its core activities. In addition, the employment location of Arbon would be maintained. AFG is convinced that it will be able to achieve a solution that brings benefits to all involved parties and that in Camion-Transport AG Wil CT it will have a competent and strong logistics partner at its side in the future. |
